What is a GeoTrencher

A GeoTrencher is a type of machine used in construction for earthmoving and the creation of trenches. GeoTrenchers have a metal chain with teeth made of high-strength steel. This allows the machine to tear into the ground as well as lift and move massive amounts of earth. Thanks to the sheer size and strength of the GeoTrencher it’s also capable of tearing through heavy tree roots and densely packed earth.

What can you use a GeoTrencher for?

The GeoTrencher is a professional, portable garden trencher. It allows you to dig faster and deeper, and it has multiple uses in gardening and landscaping:

– Laying irrigation systems
– Laying electrical cables
– Laying fibre optic lines
– Root blocking
– edgings
– sand and earth channels
etc.

The use of the GeoTrencher is especially recommended for trenching in landscaping and gardening, as well as other large projects. The GeoTrencher’s self-sharpening digging teeth allow it to cut tree roots up to 100 mm in diameter. If the GeoTrencher encounters solid objects in the ground, they can be removed by pulling on the device (provided they are objects up to 80 mm wide).

Cutting pavement

A GeoTrencher is also an ideal machine for road repairs and maintenance as is capable of cutting through rock and concrete. On the front of the machine is a large toothed metal wheel that can cut through both soft and hard soil.

Digging for electrical wires

GeoTrenchers also allow you to dig trenches for electrical cables. The machine’s conveyor belt removes the excavated materials, allowing you to spend less time working on the trench. Thanks to that, operators have more time tending to the installation of the wires.

Piping work

A GeoTrencher can also dig a space for water and sewage piping. The key here is to dig deep enough to protect the pipes from any humans or animals that may try to reach them.

Removing Tree Roots

Thick tree roots can be a real headache on site. Portable GeoTrenchers have a blade on the end that allows them to function a lot like a lawnmower blade, enabling them to slice through roots quickly, easily and without hassle.

The benefits of the GeoTrencher for deep or narrow cut off walls

The GeoTrencher is useful when you have a range of soils or specific conditions, these include:

  • Unstable ground conditions are present that would make slurry trenching unsafe or inefficient.
  • Speed of installation is really important. The GeoTrencher is usually faster than conventional slurry trenching or auger soil mixing approaches for shallower applications.
  • Nearly homogenous vertical mixing is required.
  • Contaminated media are present as the GeoTrencher reduces contact hazards for employees and the general public.
  • Tight space constraints would make larger work platforms impossible.
  • Remote mixing (et situ) cut off wall backfill is required because of space constraints.
